The bulky shape of these Ballerina Figures adds to the dimension, extension, and light-heartedness of their poses. Oddly elegant, the exaggerated roundness of the sculptures highlights the precise movements involved in the pliƩ pose and grants the Leaping Ballerina with the possibility of flight.
I was checking out Z Gallerie's furniture selection when I spotted these figures. I actually did a double take. Do these strike you as positive depictions of fat bodies in motion? On their own, they do for me but the description has me scratching my head just a bit.
What do you think?

I think "oddly elegant" seems to imply that fat bodies aren't naturally "elegant." Additionally, is the roundness really "exaggerated"? Like fat bodies are exaggerated versions of thin bodies?
So the description is iffy. Then again, I've come across clothing descriptions on no other than Zaftig that are more blatantly anti-fat. So my expectations are pretty low in general.

I love those statues but agree that the phrasing of the description is a bit "Oh wow, and despite the roundness they manage to somehow convey elegance!" that is irksome.

I think the description was written by someone a bit biased. The description definitely wouldn't make me buy them. But vision alone I think they are lovely. I especially love the one on her toes.

Reminds me of Renoir.

Agree that the language wouldn't get me to buy them (would it get *anyone* to buy them?), but the pieces are kind of awesome. The copy def. reads as someone who thinks that they're icky, but who has to come up with nice things to say regardless, though.

It's great :) It showcases that great lines can be juxtaposed by curves in a beautiful and graceful way.
