I was watching QVC late one night about a month ago when there was a Today’s Special Value for a B. Makowsky handbag. Now, B. Mak bags are what I would consider to be on the spendy side. However, in the grand scheme of handbag prices, they’re pretty affordable.
I had been searching for a high quality black bag I could carry every single day but wasn’t boring or plain. I wanted a hobo bag with something to give it personality. I also wanted real leather and a price under $200.
The picture really doesn’t do it justice. It’s much slouchier and yummier than it looks here. It’s a basic hobo bag but so much better with the studs and all the pockets and the lining is leopard print and I love it!
I get compliments on this bag all the time. Obviously, I didn’t design it so I can’t take any credit for its beauty but it’s a conversation starter. People always ask where I got it and they’re either surprised I ordered it from QVC or not at all surprised because they love QVC, too.
I can’t afford to buy a closet full of designer bags but having just one that I’ll want to carry every day is almost as good. What I learned is that a staple piece should be a staple for me. It doesn’t have to be boring to be a good investment.

I remember this bag being on QVC as the Today's Special Value and thinking well, I don't want to pay that much for a bag, but that is a GREAT bag. heh.

$200 plus for a Purse? I don't think I paid that much for the Wilson Leather Jacket I have. About 130 last year when it was Onsale.

This one is similar and only 40 bucks.
What are they Smoking on QVC?

I feel no special need to defend my purchases to anyone but $200 for a designer handbag made of quality leather from a retailer that I trust is a worthwhile purchase to me.
People buy a lot of things that I can't imagine spending the money on. A quality bag that I'll likely carry for years is hardly a foolish investment.

Colleen
I have Coach handbags (the real leather ones, not the canvas crap they make now) that I have been carrying for over a decade and I know I spent north of $200 bucks on each one. In fact I am carrying one today. If it's worth the money and is quality, it will more than pay for itself!

<3 B. Makowsky bags. They are expensive, but very high quality for the price, and though it is not something I could afford to buy frequently, I definitely would chose to buy one on his if I were spending that much on a bag.

I wholeheartedly support your decision. I recently purchased a Kate Spade leather bag and haven't put it down. I'm in love and think it's totally ok to splurge for a durable bag that you love and will be with you for years. Congrats!

I have 2 B.Mak Bags - One from QVC and one from Ebay ;-) I LOOOVE my Q bag. Its awesome - it isn't the same one you have, but another black studded TSV.
B.Mak bags are way more $$ in Nordstroms than $200. I have no problem with having a couple of $200 bags that last years (my Coaches are 5+ year and look new) than bunches of $20 bags that fall apart after a few months of use. I think the overall cost and effect on your overall appearance is much better.
Enjoy your bag!

Colleen - don't get me wrong! 200 bucks is not bad for a good bag at all...but I have other things I'm saving my money for...I just bought a recliner...and I want a kitchen aid mixer...and a new laptop...
If Iw as going to use the same purse every day, I'd totally go for an investment bag, but I am one of those girls who switches her bag up constantly, so for me, paying 200 dollars to put something into a rotation? No way! :) Plus, it totally didn't look big enough for a hardcover book...which is how I pick my purses most of the time.

Colleen - we must be on the same wavelength cause I bought my first B Makowsky bag TODAY!

This is the one I purchased, but I got it at TJ Maxx instead of QVC...saved about $100.00. And I got it in "port" which really looks like a deep raspberry color to me. Enjoy your bag - I know I will enjoy mine!

You can't put a price on a good handbag. If you want it bad enough you will buy it, if not leave where you found it! I have several B Markowsky glove leather handbags, they are timeless!
