Chiffon bubble hem dress
"Update your special occasion style with the trendy silhouette of a bubble hem dress." Available from Lane Bryant in sizes 14/16 - 26/28 for $69.50. What do you think? Is it cute and trendy or not your taste? Do you love the bubble hem or hate it? How and where would you wear it? Leave a comment and let us know what you think.

The only way I would wear this is cinched at the waist. The silhouette isnt flattering on me.

I think its a bit past being an in trend at this point, and that its pretty hard to pull off looking adorable in. (I'm not thinking that even the model looks to great in it.)

Good idea, poor execution. Now, imagine it with a fitted empire bodice, and the bubble hem as the skirt. It needs more shape, and even then the shape of the wearer would make or break it.

Hate it. Reminds me of something out of Willy Wonka. I can't think of one figure this would flatter.

HATE. First, this is last year's fashion. Second, no one looked good in it last year. Third, it looks like a trash bag in that color.

Agreed that this looks like a trash bag with straps. I would imagine even a belt to cinch it would just leave material poofing out on either side. In my opinion, this dress would be bad for anyone of any size (or at least if you want to go cheap, go Glad Bag!)

I agree with everyone. Not. flattering. Even on the model. I saw a bubble dress at a party on someone who is very small and petite and it looked good on her, but clearly that's not the Lane Bryant demographic.
Also, the way the straps are designed/located and the bodice cut does nothing to flatter the chest. A belt might help - I sometimes use one with babydoll dresses.
Hopefully they'll stop marketing this dress to plus-size women soon! Sometimes LB just keeps going with styles that clearly aren't working.

That is seriously fugly. Whoever said it looked like a trash bag is right. I'm so sick of this stupid bubble skirt trend; I wish it would die a quick death. Sometimes I wonder if LB is paying attention to its clientele at all.

I don't mind bubble skirts in theory, but this dress is just WRONG. Maybe it would be cute on a twig? But honestly, I can't picture it. I liked the idea above of the fitted empire bodice on this.

Everyone above who said it looks like a trash bag is spot on. You'd spend less money putting a hefty bag over your head and gluing glitter on it. Whoever is buying for LB within the last two years really needs to be fired.

I like the bubble hem, but I think the rest of it makes a person look a lot bigger than they are. It's not a flattering cut.

So what Drugs is the LB Fashion Designers on? I have a whole box of those in my shed for the leaf pickup! I know my Daughter would never wear something like that and she's a Size 2p. Shopping with her for Clothes is like shopping for Doll Clothes. (she was 16W and 160lb, 8 years ago).
But I would have to say it's Perfect for Oct 31 with Orange Purse for the Night Out!

No, no, just absolutely.... NO.

That's one of the most unflattering items of clothing I have ever seen. Wow.

This dress makes us look fat. Sad!

She looks like a gumdrop.

This would look OK on a tall apple with relatively slender legs... But not me, with my short thick stumps.

I don't see how something that covers all of your curves save your knees and lower legs could be flattering to a majority of women.

Lane Bryant has completely lost the plot. Last week I wanted to order some boots from their website and needed another item so that I could use a certain coupon, and I could not find ONE SINGLE THING on their website that I would actually wear. Considering that about 3 years ago my entire wardrobe was made up of LB clothes, I could not wrap my head around it. Have I changed or have they?

Their dusters and Lafayette and Houston pants are cute, as are some of their jeans. None of their shirts, though, ever, until they completely rethink their design.

This Lane Bryant dress looks like a more flattering alternative to the bubble dress. If the link doesn't show up it's described as:
"Origami square neck dress
* Embellished, origami-inspired grosgrain squares accent the face-framing neckline of this sophisticated social occasion dress. 3/4-length chiffon sleeves are finished with coordinating grosgrain ribbon detail."

The dress on its own would look terrible. You would have to wear a belt to cinch in the waist so you didn't look like you're wearing a big trash bag. I'm not TOO keen on bubble hems anyhow but on some people they look good.

I don't like it!!! The bubble isn't flattering on most plus size shapes it makes us look more voluminous where most of us dont' want to. Back to the drawing board!

Fat women have waists, too! This might be cute with a belt. I think it would look perfectly awful on a skinny girl -- she'd be lost in it.

I saw one of these in a discount store and, following my policy of always trying on at least 1 thing I hate, I also ended up following my trend of liking the thing I originally hated. I thought the bubble dress would make me look even larger but I was wrong, it balanced out my own bubbles with surprisingly nice style.

Ugh. This dress is not going to be attractive on ANYONE!
