I'm so excited right now! I just noticed that the Lane Bryant website now has Right Fit denim trousers, which really excites me for some reason. If you're looking for them, they're in Bottoms > New Arrivals. I'm going to order a pair and report back here. Yay!

I love trouser jeans. If I'm feeling kind of meh, I can wear them during the week and pretend they are more trouser than jean. If I'm feeling fly, I will wear them on casual Friday to step things up a bit.
The tops of those look more jean-y than trouser-y, and I wonder if they smell funny. But $40 is a good price if they are quality. I'm looking forward to the results of your investigation.

I wish I were taller! Trouser jeans look really cool, but aren't great if you're on the short side. I tried on a pair and they made me look very short and bulky.

So when does a jean become a demin trouser? What's the distinction?

Sandra, I think they become a trouser when the jeans are cut and styled like a pair of pants. They have a wider waistband with a double front clasp closure, are straight from the hip downwards so they have wider leg opening, and sometimes have a slight pleat, all indicators of pants but they're denim, so it's like a dressier pair of jeans. That's my interpretation :)
