Is this an April Fool's joke?

What the hell, Torrid? What. The. Hell?

I don't think it's an April Fools joke-- it was up on their site yesterday. But I agree-- what the hell? No more '80s-inspired fashion.

Ewwww. That top is not very flattering, she looks uncomfortable. What's next? Stirrup pants, acid wash, granny boots?

i'm all for the 80's fashion and incorporating trends into my wardrobe but this, oh this, is unacceptable. what big girl would wear this or look good in it? their model definitely has the "if i stop breathing and stand just like this no one will notice how lumpy and unconfortable i am...thank god i have long hair" look going on. personally i try to avoid that particular look and i always prefer to breathe. bad, torrid, bad.

I've noticed that Torrid looks come in waves every year: one wave of heavily promoted, cringeworthy awful, and a second wave of really decent - if sometimes badly manufactured - designs. Wait until April or May, then we'll see if Torrid really has lost the plot.

At least when they were goth market they were consistently decent. Oy!

How timely. A very lovely, curvy woman just came into my office a short while ago in a cute top, cute little sandals, and awful skin-tight leggings. I've been seeing whiffs of leggings here and there on people and in magazines and whatnot. I think the trend is on the way back in...Heaven help us.

That looks like a good shirt to wear if you're going out to gather berries. You can hold a lot of produce in that sling.

let's all join hands and pray that it is.

WTF?

Must.Get. Image. From. Head.

I like leggings with the long mini-dress-looking shirts. It can look really hot.

This outfit, however, is everything that is WRONG with fat fashion (or lack thereof) as it is in society currently.

I'm a child of the 80s, and I'm not gonna lie, I like leggings. Just plain, not under skirts and dresses. The only reason I don't wear them is that I haven't run into any that fit me well... I don't love the shirt, though.

I like leggings too, but my rule is that the top at least needs to cover thy ass in order to look decent.

Amen Joan about the covering of one's ass!!!!

That look there is wrong, just plain wrong. Goodness sake it looks that bad from the front, the back must be even worse!!!

It was April 1.

It's still there. *hides*

HAHAH!
Every once in awhile Torrid comes with something from left field ... and this is definitely one of them. What is that top going to cover up??

Hahah oh Torrid... try again!

Oh hell no! My 330 lb body would not look good in that monstrosity.

I know Torrid sometimes can be out there when it comes to fashion but this takes the cake. I'm an 80s' kid, I love mostly everything about it, but one thing we don't need to bring back was the clothes!

P.S. You know Lindsay Lohan would wear that if it was in her size. I blame her for the return of leggings.

Am I the only one who thinks this lady's legs look really sexy in the leggings? I think the top is a bit questionable (another top that requires a strapless bra? for reals?) and it looks like it's made of nylon (sweatsville, eww.) It's one redeeming feature is the length, which I think is perfect for a lean-lower-leg look.

The leggings, though, look great! I'm really into them, for what it's worth.

I've actually been looking forward to the return of leggings because they mean I could theoretically wear a skirt that comes above my ankles. But that top...seriously, do the people who recycle eras ever look back at their old high school photos and go "What the hell was I thinking?" Yes, it really is that painful the second time around, even if you leave the case of Aqua Net out of the equation this time.

I saw this the other day and thought of you. This is hilarious.

That outfit is hideous, but I like Torrid. Like all stores, they have their fair share of ugly things. They also do some really cute stuff. I can't say I've ever found a store where I've liked EVERY single piece they sell. I just have to shop multiple stores to get the looks I love.
