Bag lust
I've been searching all over the internet for The Perfect Green Bag. It's become a minor obsession that's left me feeling mostly disappointed. I do believe that I've found my ideal bag, though: this gorgeous patent tote by Fossil. This bag is the closest I've found to what I'm looking for. The color, shape and size are all perfect. The only problem is the price.
At $240, it's outside of my price range. But instead of doing what I'd usually do, which is find a cheaper alternative that I don't like quite as much and would probably end up not using because it's not perfect, I'm going to see if I can save my pennies and splurge on this bag a little later. I'd use my birthday next week as an excuse but I already ordered a new laptop (which I actually need), so there goes that plan.
If I do end up buying this bag, it will be the most I've ever spent on a single accessory. I'm hesitant but I do love it so we'll see. Hopefully a cheaper, just as perfect alternative will present itself to me.

I have been looking for the perfect green bag too and have been disappointed with my findings. I love your bag, in all it's shiny patent splendor, but I want a true grass green. If you see anything like that, please let me know.

There are a few suede green totes that I've seen and am really tempted... Silhouettes and Lands' End both have cute ones.

Be patient, grasshopper. That bag will most likely be 1/2 off by the time spring ends. Watch Macy's, Dillard's, Bloomie's, places like that.

Save and go for it! If it really is your dream bag, you probably will use it more than a substitute. Maybe you could try eBay?

If they carry it at Macy's or Lord & Taylor, you can probably get a discount on it. Ditto on Carson's. All stores regularly have coupons that could save you 10-30%.
I actually had a bag that color and size a while back it was the perfect all-purpose bag. I just wish it was a material like yours- my suede died far too quickly!

Are they made by "Debbie Meyers" too?

Really $240 bucks for a Purse? What will be left to carry in it after spending that much?
I use one of these.

Steve, you have much to learn about women's accessories! I'm probably not going to buy the bag at full price but if I can get it cheaper, I'm pouncing on it for sure.

True, very true. If Marianne (Wife) wanted $240 bucks bag I would most likly buy it too. But it still seems a Lot of $$ for a Handbag. But What's the Deal with all the Shoes? Ahaaaaa Too Many.

Might as well get some new Sandles to go with the Shoes and Bag.
Bug a Lime Green Bag? I guess you can spot it quickly.
One thing I have learned in life. It's a one time event, enjoy it while you can.

Joan, I've been thinking about this one. Not quite a true grass green, but very, very green, and I love it. Matt and Nat also have a really lovely green going on, and OMG, I love their bags.

I might need that bag from J.Jill. Damn you, Kate!

I just went through the same experience. I was looking for a new bag all fall and winter but found nothing I truly wanted. Mytwo-year-old Kathy van Zeeland bag was getting more battered over time.
In late February I saw a lovely white bag in a Banana Republic window. I checked it out both in the store and online. Perfect spring and summer bag! The $200+ price tag freaked me out but a 20% sale came up and I went for it. I have been wearing it since March 1 and love it.
Bottom line? If it is well made and you truly love it, you will get more mileage from it, it's a bargain.

Hey Colleen, I found this handbag over on ebags.com, it's similar to the one you like, just thought maybe you'd want to check it out.

Ebay...at least on other expensive handbags, you can generally get them brand new for at least half off retail.
Also, agree that it'll be on sale half-price before long...
Those things said, though, purses are generally one thing that's worth the investment. If you think you're going to carry it for a while, $240 isn't all that bad. If you will regret and lust over and smack yourself in the head for not buying it, and you can buy it without sacrificing things like, oh, your rent - buy it, rock it, and be happy. :D
