If you don't believe that fat people are discriminated against and need proof, check out First. Do No Harm. It's a website for fat people to share real stories of prejudice in health care. Each story is a testament to why there needs to be a radical change in the way fat people are treated by the medical community.
I was lucky enough to attend the first ever Big Fat Blog Think Tank this past weekend. You can read more about that event here and here. If you'd like to get involved with fat rights and you're not sure where to start, please check out this post from Big Fat Blog. Paul's listed some great volunteer opportunities that need to be addressed right away. And if you have an idea or special area of interest that isn't listed there, please let him know.
Lastly, the National Eating Disorders Association is holding their 3rd annual Every BODY is Beautiful Online Auction until December 2nd. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the NEDA, which works to prevent eating disorders and provide treatment referrals to those suffering from anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder and those concerned with body image and weight issues.
