More about Right Fit jeans... yeesh.

I do have two complaints about the new Right Fiticon jeans. One, my pair of bootcuts in "Dark Rinse Denim" have a very noticable smell. I'm guessing it's the dye they use for that particular color because the pair I have in the "Medium Vintage Sandblast" don't have the same issue.

I'm going to try hosing them down with Febreeze before washing them and see if that helps. The smell won't keep me from wearing them but it is noticeable and they've been washed several times already. I hope that complaint has made its way up the ladder because a lot of people have mentioned it, including Lane Bryant sales associates.

Two, I tried on the flares and the denim is different from the bootcuts. It's thinner and not as substantial. The fit was nice but every lump and bump on my backside was made a little too obvious for me. This is the one time I'll say that I wish they were more like the old flares. I liked the denim they used for those a lot more.

CatherinesDid you know that Catherine'sicon has Right Fit jeans and pants, too? The jeans only come in one cut (classic straight leg) but they go up to the Right Fit size 12. There are basic career pants, too. If you need a larger size than what's available at Lane Bryant but still want to try the Right Fit line, Catherine's is an option.

I have noticed the smell on my jeans, too. It doens't bothter me too much...kind of smells like the beach. One thing that does bother me is that the indigo bled a LOT and ruined a few shirts I had in the wash with my jeans. I know, I know...should have washed them alone the first time.

Ah...the stink...smells not so much like the beach. It's a stink that has staying power. Mine have been washed every week since I got them a month ago and the stink is still there. The dye is a problem too. I get home from work with blue ankles. Might try setting the dye with white vinegar.

It smells a lot like burnt hair to me. Meg - vinegar is my next recourse if Febreeze doesn't work.

It might be something as simple as a chemical reaction between the dye in the jeans and the particular detergent you're using. You may want to try a different detergent and see what happens. I haven't actually noticed any sort of smell on my RF jeans, so i'm wondering if it's just a weird batch, or what.

I've noticed that smell with the jeans I've ordered from Avenue. They stink right out of the box. I've found that washing them a few times with vinegar helps the smell and also sets the dye so it doesn't fade as fast.

My dark rinse ones reek to high heaven, too. The material feels like it's literally soaked with dye, and if I touch it I always expect to come away with dye on my fingers.

Also, has anyone else noticed that the bootcut in the dark rinse is actually cut differently from the others? I may have just had a strange batch, but they seem to be thinner through the whole leg but especially below the knee.

Mine do the same, I bought 3 pairs and have washed them all about 10 times and the smell is still there though not as strong when I first got them and they still bleed when I wash them. I hope they fix the problem because it stinks enough that I wont by anymore.

My boyfriend complains EVERY TIME i wear these jeans about the smell. It smells like paving a driveway. Has anyone found a way to deal with it? I really don 't want to fade them as I love their color.

I find this all so sad, because LB is so close to having the perfect jeans, they just need a little tweaking! (including the fact that their stretch, while forgiving, is a little ridiculous since mine are falling off of me within a few hours...and the fact that the flares are about half as flattering as the bootcut)

Febreze is working for me, see my update:

My dark rinse bootcuts smell burnt as well. Febreeze didn't work for me. Love the jeans. HATE the smell. And for those wondering, the boot cut and flare definitely have a different cut. On their website it says flare's are fitted on hip/thigh with the cut below the natural waist. While bootcut (my favorite) has straight leg/thigh, and sits at natural waist.

I think the smell finally went away.

I washed them solo, used Tide (the one with the added Downy) liquid detergent, plus I added 3x the normal amount of Tide powder (also with Downy) detergent. I let it get all bubbly then paused the cycle to let the jeans sit in it for a few hours. Later, I finished the was cycle at the longest setting. I just went down to check on them and they smell good. No burnt smell so far!! Now I'm just rinsing them again since I used so much soap and added a tad of Downy.

i'm on pair number 2 of these pants, and about to wash this pair the 2nd time. if they are not better tommorrow, i'm taking them back too. they are exchanging them without question at my LB

I got the right fit bootcuts and mine stunk as well. I washed them about 6 times and the stink actually seemed to get worse instead of better, so I returned them, but not before making the mistake of bringing them on a trip and they were the only jeans I had! They actually made my legs stink like it too. I bought the flares in their place and they don't stink, but they also don't fit nearly as well.

I thought it might be an odd pair and I had ordered them online, so I went into a Lane Bryant store and the entire jean section smelled just like it. Gave me a headache.
