Fall trend: gray!
Yes, gray. See Michael Kors' Fall 2007 collection for inspiration. The nice thing about color trends, as opposed to style trends, is that they translate very easily to plus sized clothes. Gray is a wonderful neutral and it goes nicely with both warm and cool tones. Gray doesn't have to be dull if you pair it with bright, happy colors like Mr. Kors' use of yellow and electric blue or with rich jewel tones that are always so lovely for fall.
Over the next few days, I'll be putting together plus sized outfits using Kors' gray color story as an inspiration. The first look is after the cut.
This look is a pretty direct interpretation of the Kors' look. Instead of crop pants, I chose trousers to make the outfit a little more suitable for an office environment. You could also choose a long sleeved, v-neck sweater instead of the sleeveless turtleneck. Definitely go for a brightly colored top that flatters your skin tone. This is a stunning look under the bold pattern of the houndstooth coat.

Terry Lewis Sleeveless Turtleneck Sweater from HSN. Soft, medium weight knit. 100% acrylic. Sizes x-small - 3X. $29.90. HSN is one of the unsung heroes of plus size shopping. Everything they offer comes in plus sizes and they allow shoppers to review items on their website.

Make + Model Eva trousers from Nordstrom. Cotton/spandex. Sizes 14 - 24. $64. These trousers could be dressed down with a more casual jacket and a pair of flats.
Houndstooth Coat from Silhouettes. Retro chic with rhinestone buttons, princess seams, in-seam pockets. 41" long. Lightweight wool/polyester/viscose. Fully lined. $119, sizes 12 - 26.

Bouquets - Disco in Black Snake
Snake print leather uppers. Zip closure down the side. Pointed toe. Center seam detailing. Man-made outsole with light yet durable tread. Available in sizes 6 - 13 medium, wide and double wide. $79.95 from Zappos.
As for a handbag, I feel I must pay homage to the Michael Kors bag that sparked my interest in his fall collection. Ladies, behold the Sutton top handle patent bag:

It's $995 and I don't live in a world where that's even remotely possible but it's beautiful to look at. Sigh.
